Award-winning author Jana Laiz has been published in a wide range of genres, from young adult fantasy to historical biography, including the timely novel, Weeping Under This Same Moon, a ForeWord Magazine Book of the Year Gold Medalist and an International Reading Association Notable Book. 

A prolific workshop leader, Jana will give flex your writing muscles and give them a good workout. Whether you’re just getting started on your new novel, you’re in process, or you’re a bit stuck, your creativity will be kick started into high gear using a series of prompts and exercises designed inspire you and  expand your writing, no matter what the genre. 

Over the course of the weekend, we will work on character development, voice, use of descriptive language, getting readers hooked, story, mood, and flow. Jana will help you bring out your authentic voice, and gently take you out of your comfort zone to writing that surprises even you. There will be an opportunity to work with Jana one-on-one, where she will offer editorial suggestions and guidance, while others continue their work. 

In this safe space, Jana will offer exciting prompts to get your creative juices flowing. Sharing is optional, but very much encouraged. 

Friday afternoon arrival gives you time to write on your own. 

5-6:30 - Welcome by Jana and Barbara, with  time to get know each other and share our writing  goals. 

Dinner at The Hart House

Saturday morning - After a sumptuous breakfast, we write. It begins with intention, and our host Barbara Newman will join us and  lead an intention setting meditation for our work.  After lunch, there's an  opportunity to work with Jana one-on-one, where she will offer editorial suggestions and guidance, while others continue their work. 

On Sunday morning we will continue to write until lunch at 1pm. Checkout at 3pm. 

$875 Includes two nights of lodging, workshop, Friday evening welcome dinner, daily breakfast, lunch, snack, Saturday night dinner will be a group excursion to one of Great Barrington's destination restaurants.
